In tragic news, it has been confirmed that Madonna‘s brother Christopher Ciccone has died.
Full story below…
The singer’s younger sibling passed away after a brave battle with cancer, a rep for him shared with TMZ.
Ciccone, who was 63, was surrounded by his husband Ray and his loved ones.
Early in his career, he was a key figure within Camp Madonna.
First, he starred as a backup dancer in her music videos before ascending to become her right-hand man creatively.
Indeed, Christopher functioned as the art director for the legend’s ‘Blonde Ambition’ world tour; he also served as tour director for ‘The Girlie Show.’
Beyond Madge, he directed music videos for the likes of Dolly Parton and Tony Bennett.
When his famous sister enlisted someone else to be the creative director of her next live trek, 2001’s ‘Drowned World Tour’ (allegedly without telling Christopher), it caused a wedge between the two. A wedge that widened and worsened when he penned his tell-all memoir, ‘Life with My Sister Madonna.’
Christopher would claim the fallout saw his sister call for his blacklisting in the industry.
In later life, he mended fences with Madonna and found success as an interior designer; he also released a shoe line.
The death comes just weeks after the singer’s 81-year-old stepmother Joan Ciccone died after battling an aggressive cancer.
Madonna’s older brother, Anthony Ciccone, died last February at age 66. His cause of death was respiratory failure and throat cancer.
