New Order have had to cancel tonight’s huge gig on Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay with special guests the Charlatans on ‘health and safety grounds’. Organisers cancelled the gig due to the impact of Storm Lillian.
In a post on Instagram, organisers The Bay Series wrote: “Important information about tonight’s event. Unfortunately due to extreme weather including severe winds, tonight’s New Order show has been cancelled on health and safety grounds.”
The impact of the storm is being felt across the UK which is already having one of its worst summer’s in living memory. A Barmy Summer so to speak. The band are due to play in Manchester this weekend, where there is a weather warning but not as serious as in Cardiff, so the show in Manchester should still be going ahead.
The much looked forward to Cardiff show will offer ticket refunds.
In a statement, the promoters said, ‘Unfortunately, due to extreme weather including severe winds, tonight’s New Order show has been cancelled on health and safety grounds. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and your refund will be automatically processed, please allow 10 business days for the refund to appear in you account.’
