In a brand new 30 minute interview, Noel Gallagher returns to Manchester’s legendary Sifters Records to tell the story of Oasis’ iconic debut album Definitely Maybe. The film is released as the album approaches its landmark 30th anniversary on August 29th, followed by the release of deluxe editions of Definitely Maybe including previously unheard and abandoned versions from the original recording session at Monnow Valley Studios and outtakes from the definitive album sessions at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, both recently mixed by Noel for the first time.

For the only interview for the release of the upcoming Definitely Maybe box set, Noel Gallagher really opens up to LTW boss John Robb. In their 30-minute interview filmed in the legendary Burnage South Manchester record store, Sifters that was Noels’ teenage haunt and famously referenced in the Definitely Maybe track, Shakermaker, Noel talks in depth with typical brilliant insights.

The 30 minute interview that sees Noel at his most relaxed and open covers the early days of the band. Noel talks about how wrote the songs on the dole and how the unexpected inspiration would come from out of the (sky) blue  and how these songs have stood the test of time. he talks about how that amazing accidental chemistry that Oasis had in the mid nineties was a once in the lifetime moment. Perhaps the most poignant and also a potential game changer, he is highly complimentary about brother Liam’s vocals and the attitude he brought to the band.

The interview covers so much ground. Adding a human face to the biggest UK band of the nineties he talks about his own inspirations from the records he bought in Sifters to how he was inspired by the communal vibe of acid house and the raves he went to in Manchester and how that fed into Oasis’s own inclusive attitude. He celebrates the ad hoc nature of being in a band and how the whole journey was not planned and how it all just happened and unfurled right in front of him. The interview then captures the early days of the band and is a snapshot of a different era when there was an escape route for normal people armed with guitars and talent before looking in depth at the recording process of the first two attempts to get the songs to tape which were then scrapped before the final recording. It’s these versions of the albums that are getting the release, and they are more than a collection of demos but a great sounding reminder of a young band finding its way.
