Oliver Schories shares a House remix of Jasper Sommer's experimental track 'Wouldn't You Like To Know' – PLAYY.

Prominent German DJ, label owner, and artist manager Oliver Schories recently debuted a remix of Jasper Sommer’s track ‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’ on Electronic Groove. With over 140 million streams on Spotify, Schories made his mark on the music scene over a decade ago with his debut album Herzensangelegenheit in 2012 under Parquet Recordings. Known for his dynamic performances and acclaimed releases, Schories founded the label SOSO, championing diverse talents. Schories remains committed to pushing the boundaries of dance music, foreseeing an innovative and vibrant future ahead.

The original track comes off English musician, record producer, and singer-songwriter Jasper Sommer’s genre-bending EP, Memento, released on the 26th of January 2024 via EFG Records Oy. Jasper has received mainstream publication support from the likes of Mixmag, COMPLEX UK, Clash Magazine, Notion and Earmilk, drawing comparisons to the likes of Four Tet and James Blake. ‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’ is a signature Jasper Sommer genre-bender, coated in his distinct moody darkness. Melancholic ambient synths set the tone with Jasper’s smokey, languid vocals. A muffled beat weaves in and out as glittery pads twinkle gently, infusing the track with introspective ambivalence.

Oliver Schories brings a surprising twist to the track, bringing it to the realm of deep and melodic house with a lively four-on-the-floor rhythm, captivating shakers, rich synth sweeps, and uplifting chords. Drawing inspiration from artists like Ben Böhmer, Bonobo, and Parra for Cuva, his rendition maintains Jasper’s distinctive dark ambience while Schories reshapes its brooding shadows into an anthemic sound that inspires emerging from introspective depths.

Oliver Schories shared: I was originally asked to remix Jaspers‘ track ‘Memento’ and really liked the idea but then I listened through his entire album and came across ‘Wouldn’t You Like To Know’. I was instantly hooked by the bass and thought: This is the one!“.
