The Instruments was a project centred around Heather McIntosh, who has since evolved into a prolific composer for film and television. Upon hearing her 2008 album Dark Småland, that pathway may come as no surprise. Centred around her brooding cello, the album has both blissful and melancholic moments, with vast vistas to lighten the soul.
