Revivalry: The Town
DL/Streaming
Cleethorpes-based teenage trio announce new single The Town, released by Manchester-based indie label Cosmic Glue.
Revivalry, are made up of singer and bassist Josh Courfield, 15, guitarist and singer Ben Townsend, 16, and drummer Lewis Hubbert, 16. They are artists beyond their age having built a reputation over the last few years, with Ben and Lewis, who met at the age of 5, being in an earlier incarnation of the band formed in 2019.
Since then there have been a string of singles and some impressive dates. Whilst no strangers to headlinging in their own right, they’ve come out in support recently for a couple of their peers, Alex Spencer and The Height at Manchester Academy and The Deaf Institute respectivily. They’ve also scored gigs with artists such The Kairo’s, Apollo Junction, as well as Reverend & The Makers alongside numerous festivals slots across the country including Kendal Calling, Tramlines Fringe and Humber Street Sesh. With a return to Kendal set for 4th August, this time on the Main Stage, they’ll also be playing Garristonbury, The Longest Day and Camper Calling during the summer.
Citing Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass and The Reytons among their musical influences, Revivalry are not afraid to highlight issues they see, already confident lyricists and writing about what they know. Clearly with fingers on the pulse, one of their last singles, 2023’s Homesick, shone a spotlight on the struggle with mental health and the ongoing battle to find yourself again whilst dealing with the everyday pressure of being a teenager.
The Town, their first on Cosmic Glue, follows the self-released Legion and aforementioned Homesick. The single is described as ’a hard-hitting dose of classic indie rock’, and is accompanied by a music video shot in the band’s hometown. The trio say of The Town, “it is about living for the weekend. Being alone and being a loner – at work, school, college or uni – struggling Monday to Friday 9 till 5 but knowing at the weekend there is a gig. You will see the familiar faces, all the loners together but now as one and as the song drops, the pit explodes and the world feels right.”
A hard-working band with the world at their feet, catch Revivalry while you can…
