Last month, we shared the news of the release of Satomimagae‘s new album, Taba, on Brooklyn-based label RVNG Intl. Taba is a Japanese term for a bunch, bundle or grouping together of different things, an apt title for this collection of short stories–a series of vignettes that document both the personal and the universal, seen and unseen. Observing and absorbing the fleeting scenes and sounds of life flowing outside of her home studio.
“Omajinai,” is the second tale shared from the collection, which considers the vague mystery and infinite poetry contained in even the most transient moments.
Accompanying the single’s release is a black and white video by Satomi’s long time collaborator Norio, who brings to life Satomi’s simple yet lucid story setting for the song: “The sun is setting in a sparsely populated square; a man is mumbling something to himself over and over; there is a cigarette on the ground.”
Satomimagae’s Taba will be released on vinyl, Japanese import CD (via Plancha), and digital editions on April 25, 2025.
