Stornoway return for two intimate pre-Xmas shows

Stornoway return with new album and intimate pre-Xmas shows

Oxford’s much loved indie-folk troubadours Stornoway are set to return with a new album later this month. Titled Best Of Unplucked and due for release November 29th, it’s a collection of acoustic renditions of some of their best-known songs from their previous four albums (2010’s Beachcomber’s Windowsill, 2013’s Tales From Terra Firma, 2015’s Bonxie, and the more recent Dig The Mountain from 2023) together with a smattering of their distinctively quirky cover versions (featured are Talking Heads’ This Must Be The Place, Yazz’s The Only Way Is Up, and Depeche Mode’s Enjoy The Silence).

The new release will be available on three formats: special eco-vinyl, CD and digital download and can be pre-ordered from the usual portals: their official site and all online record stores.

To promote the release of the album, Stornoway are also taking to the road for a mini pre-Christmas jaunt of ‘Yuletide Specials’ in selected church venues. The previously announced date at London’s Union Chapel (16th December 2024) has already sold out, but the band will also be playing two further exclusive intimate live shows inside ecclesiastical spaces: one in Liverpool at St Barnabas Church on Smithdown Road/Penny Lane junction (14th December 2024) and the other in their hometown Oxford at St. John The Evangelist Arts (18th December 2024).

All dates promise to be, in the band’s words, truly festive occasions: “We can’t wait to perform in these incredible spaces with a beautiful natural acoustic, and extra yuletide vibes!”

Tickets for the Liverpool and Oxford dates – which will be limited given the intimate nature of these two venues – can be obtained from this link: Unplucked Outstores
