One of the best-curated festivals in the UK and a real asset to Birmingham, where it is based, Supersonic, has announced a location change, and the day splits for this year’s festival.
The line looks tantalising and eclectic as ever while somehow hooking into the heart of the art of darkness and soul of the home city’s groundbreaking Black Sabbath and the home city’s musical pulsebeat whilst bringing in maverick artists of all genres to Brum to create something truly special.
It’s time for whoever runs Birmingham to embraces this cultural asset in the city. Maybe have a look at how Manchester embraces music culture and has turned itself into a cultural powerhouse. I’m not sure why Birmingham has never been able to do this despite having great events like Supersonic right on its doorstep.
It’s a key festival and needs the support of the powers that be, not hindrances and venue changing at the last minute.
