This week (Wednesday, 24 July) sees the release of Irish folk singer-songwriter Lorraine Nash’s first single, ‘Getting Started’, taken from her new EP, due in 2025. The highly touted singer was born in County Kerry, beginning her musical journey at six years of age, becoming a talented multi-instrumentalist of traditional Irish music – Fiddle, Harp, Tin Whistle, Flute – she incorporates many of these elements into her current recordings, while also drawing from her love of Folk and Americana, citing influences from the likes of Emmylou Harris to Gillian Welch, and Lisa Hannigan to Laura Marling.
Recorded at Bunker Studio Dublin, watch her gorgeous acoustic solo performance of Getting Started, on which she shared:
‘Getting Started’ is a song I wrote about trying to remain optimistic. Working in the music industry, it can often feel like one step forward three steps back, but this song is about reminding myself I do it because I love it, and sometimes that’s enough’.
Nash has several upcoming live performances, including the Den Stage at the Cambridge Folk Festival (see dates below).
