Building on the momentum of their debut, The Town, Grimsby/Cleethorpes rockers Revivalry have released their second single, Two Sips via Manchester indie label Cosmic Glue.
The trio, fresh from their electrifying performance as the youngest band ever to grace the main stage at Kendal Calling, continue to cement themselves as a force to be reckoned with. From hopeful beginnings to chaotic confrontations, Two Sips is a guitar-driven dive into the sweaty heart of a teenage house party. (Possibily the best in this genre since the superb House Party At Boothy’s by Little Man Tate). As the protagonist stumbles through a haze of cheap beer and teenage angst, the track mirrors the night’s chaos led by a raw, Northern edge. It’s a thrilling blend of fear and excitement as they navigate the treacherous waters of first loves, first drinks and fist fights. Think The Reytons meets The Inbetweeners, but with a signature punch that’s pure Revivalry.
“It started with a riff, as it nearly always does.” Revivalry say of the song’s construction, “Ben brings that and everything follows from there. Because we are a 3 piece we use sonics around the bass instead of a rhythm guitar so Josh builds around the riff and Lewis sets the beat – the structure of the song tends to just build from here with all 3 of us in a room together. At times it can be painful, Ben is a perfectionist, Josh is keen to keep the flow of writing going and Lewis is pretty laid back – somewhere in the middle of that triangle is the sweet spot.”
The teens are tearing up the scene after exploding onto the alternative circuit in the last year, captivating audiences with their youthful energy and infectious punk infused indie-rock sound. Their rapid ascent has seen them share stages with rock titans as well as playing major festivals including Kendal Calling, Tramlines Fringe and Humber Street Sesh.
Inspired by the likes of Nirvana, Supergrass, and Arctic Monkeys, Revivalry channel their youthful rebellion into a sound that’s as explosive as it is authentic, their previous single, The Town, even earning a spot in Apple Music’s New In Rock playlist. The band’s future is undeniably bright….
