Rum Lad roars straight back like he’s never been away, with his one man punk machine revitalising his own sound with another crunching tune right out of the blocks.
It’s not like Richie Tyler has been quiet really. He’s just been busy sorting out his personal demons, biding his time post Rum Lads to return with another banger Lies, which is a blistering assault on the ears with that trademark accent and hard hitting lyrics. What he can produce solo is punk as fuck and you’d swear there was a full group in the room. Richie explains the reasons behind the tune and what’s in store for the rest of the year.
“The track is an ode to the absolute state the UK is in due to self serving politicians constantly treading on the working classes and draining more and more from people who are living on the breadline day by day. I’ve spent some time out to evaluate how I ultimately wanted to perform the songs of Rum Lad and after many changes in the dynamic I decided on my own was the only way forward to not only get my message across but to perform it in its most unique manner…I like different. I bought myself a narrowboat to live on and while I’ve been getting settled in I’ve finished the latest album ‘I Am Him, He Is Me’ which will have a Winter release date as soon as there is a date for the arrival of the vinyl record. A March tour is currently being booked as are festival appearances throughout 2025.”
It’s a nice welcome back from our favourite solo punk warrior who’ll surely be back at Rebellion next year…
