King Charles has a harsh reaction when Prince Harry rings to discuss the ongoing battle for the Sussexes to be granted security, a royal expert has claimed.
Relations between Harry and the rest of the Royal Family remain strained. Harry and wife Meghan Markle quit as working royals in 2020 to plough their own furrow in the USA.
But according to royal expert Emily Andrews, ‘no single issue than security is a greater sticking point’ for Prince Harry and his family.
This week it was reported that Prince Harry was pressing on with his battle with the Home Office over taxpayer-funded security.
Despite losing an initial appeal attempt against the decision, a two-day hearing is set to go ahead in April in the latest chapter in Harry’s three-year battle with the UK government. It is understood Harry’s determination is due to his desire to return to the UK more often.
The ex-royal’s determination over the issue is causing further strain on his relationship with his dad King Charles, an expert alleged.
Emily Andrews, writing in Woman magazine, said: “After the brickbats, ‘truth bombs’ and accusations of Oprah, Netflix and Harry’s Spare, he lost his older brother, strained his relationship with various members of the Royal Family to breaking point and left many old friends and trusted staff behind.
“Now, even his own father is not taking his calls. I’m told that when courtiers bring the phone to the King (Charles doesn’t have his own mobile phone) he waves them away in irritation.
“This is not because there’s been yet another falling out. Rather, it is thought to be because Harry wants to continuously discuss his ongoing battle for security, which he has been fighting in the court for four years and believes Charles has the power to reinstate.
“Those close to Harry say the King no longer even answers his letters. He gets ‘unavailable right now’ and his calls go unanswered, says a friend.”
Prince Harry recently returned to the UK for a secret trip for his uncle’s memorial service, and he flew back to the UK before knowledge of the trip became public.
But it is understood he is not planning a permanent return to the UK with concerns over his and his family’s security remaining an issue. Harry is set to celebrate his 40th birthday on Sunday (September 15).
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.
