‘Ghosts’ photographed following tour groups around ‘most haunted’ plantation

Images of ghostly children have been captured at a property dubbed one of America‘s “most haunted” homes.

A paranormal photo has been circulating on X (formerly known as Twitter) this week, but originated on Facebook in 2023 courtesy of the Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana.

The eerie image shows a tour group exploring the 18th century house, alongside an unsettling figure. Resembling a young girl dressed in dated clothing, she is slightly visible in the bottom right corner.

The Myrtles Plantation captioned the creepy capture: “Looks like somebody wanted to tag along on this recent tour of the @the_myrtles… Could this be one of the Woodruff children?”

Clarke Woodruff and his wife Sara took over operation of the plantation in 1817. They had three offspring, but two of them tragically died of yellow fever.

These two unfortunate souls are believed to be among the many spirits that haunt the Myrtles Plantation. Another alleged ghostly inhabitant is a slave named Chloe, who was supposedly hanged on the property (despite no historical evidence confirming her existence).

Today, the Myrtles Plantation is included in the National Register of Historic Places in the US, heralding itself as “one of America’s most haunted homes”. It features a restaurant and hotel for brave guests.

And just last week, its Facebook page revealed yet another chilling image purporting to be proof of their persistent phantoms.

The post stated: “It’s been a minute since we have shared a ‘ghost photo’, but don’t worry- they are still here!” The photograph shows another group touring the property with a spine-chilling female figure looking over someone’s shoulder in the mirror.

Reactions poured in from Facebook users, with one saying: “I read a book about the Myrtles mansion and have been OBSESSED ever since. From the plantation to the house… some really disturbing things have happened there.”

Another said: “I had a few experiences on one of the haunted tours we took.” And a third shared: “Went one day in August, it was about 95 degrees outside with 100% humidity. While walking the property in the middle of a large area with no trees all of a sudden the temperature dropped about 50 degrees in a small area. Could not explain this as there were no objects nearby to account for the temp drop.”
