Harry inspired to start new project while touring Nigeria with Meghan

Prince Harry is no stranger to a hectic schedule, juggling charitable engagements, polo matches, family commitments, and the odd Royal tour with aplomb.

Now, the Duke of Sussex has unveiled an exciting new endeavour following his recent trip to Nigeria with Meghan Markle.

The couple’s three-day visit concluded last week, during which Harry toured various locations in Nigeria, including a site set to become a pioneering Invictus Centre aimed at enhancing support for veterans on a global scale.

At a reception held as part of their tour, Harry was presented with plans for the innovative centre dedicated to the physical and mental rehabilitation of injured service members.

Speaking at the event, both the Duke and Duchess expressed their gratitude for the traditional clothing they received as gifts from their hosts, reports the Mirror.

Harry then shared his enthusiasm about the Invictus Centre project, which he said gave him “goosebumps,” according to People magazine.

In his speech, Harry commended the wounded service personnel present for not allowing their injuries to define them, a sentiment increasingly shared among those injured. “

And that is what the new centre you’re building is all about. Seeing the plans for the new Invictus Centre gives me goosebumps,” he declared to those gathered at the reception.

Harry lauded the Nigerian Invictus team, recounting how they “represented their service and this country, extraordinarily – won medals and came back with smiles on their faces.”

The new centre, inspired by the “rich architectural heritage of courtyard housing”, has been designed by esteemed architect Kobina Banning. It is set to be a “pioneering institution.”

The centre, split across several interconnected compounds, aims to guide soldiers on a holistic path to recovery, all while offering stunning panoramic views.

Each compound will be linked by walkways, allowing veterans to unwind during their recovery.

Special provisions have also been made for families and friends to participate in the process, alongside facilities that include indoor and outdoor gyms as well as meditation areas.

In addition to unveiling plans for the new Invictus Centre, the Duke also visited a local military hospital in Kaduna. Here, he met with numerous young soldiers recovering from traumatic injuries such as gunshots and blast injuries.

In scenes reminiscent of his late mother, Princess Diana, Harry spent time with the soldiers, shaking hands and listening to their stories.

Furthermore, Harry later spoke to several local children, hearing their stories of overcoming disability challenges.
