A large fire has broken out at a buiding under construction in east London, with a huge cloud of smoke filling the sky.
As many as 70 firefighters are at the scene in Canning Town this morning as pictures and videos on social media show the extent of the blaze.
Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen for miles, with horrified bystanders watching on.
The fire reportedly broke out in two seperate areas of the Hallsville Quarter development, minutes from Canning Town station.
The building site is part of a £3.7 billion Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Programme.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are responding to a fire near Silvertown Way in Canning Town. Please avoid the area as we respond. More information to follow.”
