Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch will be encouraged by Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s latest polling blow as they battle it out for the Tory leadership.
A new poll has found that 40% of people disapprove of the Budget unveiled by Chancellor Rachel Reeves this week.
The Labour Government has raised overall taxes by £40billion, something Ms Reeves said was a “once in a parliament” event.
Many were left furious after National Insurance was hiked for employers and capital gains tax rates were also raised.
In the poll, carried out by BMG Research for the i, 29 percent of respondents said they would vote Conservative while 28 percent said they would vote Labour.
