King Charles is reportedly planning on carrying out a clever tactic against Prince Andrew as the battle to evict him from Royal Lodge heats up, it has been reported.
Andrew, who lives at the 30-room mansion with his former wife Sarah Ferguson, is said to be refusing to part with Royal Lodge and wants to remain at the place he has called home since the early 2000s.
The King is now said to be trying to adapt some extreme measures and may end up looking at ways to starve his brother of cash.
He has already reportedly removed Andrew’s security team and is now considering what else he can do to ensure that he moves elsewhere.
A friend of the monarch recently told the Daily Beast: “It’s been compared to a siege and that is accurate in one respect because Charles will starve Andrew out. Security is just a first step.
“He will cut all financial support if he has to. It’s Andrew’s choice how this goes. Charles is the King, and if he wants Andrew gone, Andrew will be gone in the end.”
The Scottish Daily Express has reported that Andrew cannot afford to pay for the £400,000-a-year upkeep costs of the 30-room home – with Charles having made a £3million saving by taking away the security.
This means that unless Andrew can prove that he can generate financial resources to fund the repairs that his home needs, he will be forced to leave and move elsewhere.
Questions have arose over who will move into the home once Andrew and Sarah depart, with one expert believing that Charles could offer the property to the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh or even his wife, Queen Camilla.
Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Kay said: “Charles has entertained the thought of offering Royal Lodge to his youngest brother, Prince Edward.
“The two haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, but the King has been hugely impressed by the manner in which Edward and his wife, Sophie, have increased their workload since their elevation to Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.”
The expert also revealed that since being away from the public eye, Andrew has adpoted a new hobby. He has reportedly become “obsessed” by a live flight tracker app which shows air traffic in real-time all over the world.
