Louis’s best Trooping the Colour moments

Prince Louis has only recently celebrated his sixth birthday but he is already a favourite among Royal Family members, with many hoping to see him on the Buckingham Palace balcony as much as possible.

One upcoming event that the little royal would usually be attending is Trooping the Colour, the monarch’s official birthday celebration, which this year is being held on June 15.

Last year the whole Wales clan joined King Charles and Queen Camilla on the balcony, with Prince William and Princess Kate looking delighted to be with Louis and his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

However this year it seems very unlikely that Kate will be able to be there as she continues to receive treatment for cancer, meaning her children may also have to miss out.

Today, June 8, will see the Colonel’s Review take place, a dress rehearsal of sorts for the main Trooping event, and until we see Louis again here are some of his highlights to enjoy.

Prince Louis was first seen at Trooping the Colour back in June 2019, during the reign of his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

He would have been only 14 months old at the time, as he was born on April 23 2018.

Louis did not attend the celebrations just a few weeks after his birth as he was considered too young.

William and Kate hold baby Louis

Prince William and Princess Kate looked thrilled to be able to bring their baby son to join in the festivities with the rest of his family.

Sadly the royals were not to know that 2019 would be the last proper Trooping celebration for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremony in 2020 was cancelled, replaced instead with a pared back Sovereign’s Birthday Parade at Windsor.

Then in 2021 a slightly more traditional but still subdued ceremony also took place at Windsor Castle.

The Wales family at Trooping the Colour 2022

The year 2022 was a particularly special one for the Royal Family, as Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, with Trooping the Colour being held to coincide with the weekend of festivities at the beginning of June.

For Louis it was also the moment he truly made his mark as the family joker, as his face-pulling and overall cheekiness made the occasion very entertaining for all royal watchers.
