Mystery surrounds Brits missing after Sweden ‘murders’ as third person spotted

An unknown third individual has reportedly been filmed in a rental car with two British men before bodies were found in the burnt-out shell of the vehicle.

Juan Cifuentes, 33, and Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, rented a Toyota RAV4 in Denmark before driving across the border into Sweden -where two bodies were found.

After the car was set on fire and left on an industrial estate in Malmo, the bodies of two men who had been shot were found inside, though police have not yet formally identified them as Cifuentes and Abdulrazak.

As the investigation continues, another man is said to be involved after being in close contact with the man who rented the car, reports Swedish outlet Aftonbladet.

Meanwhile daily Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan has also claimed that CCTV captured three men inside the car.

The families of both missing men have issued desperate pleas for more information on what happened as they fear the worst while waiting for more news.

Juan’s sister Laura told The Sun: “There’s no confirmation. There’s no confirmation that they’ve been shot. The bodies are still being identified. They were meant to return home and it was meant to be a short business trip.”

She thinks there’s “probably a 99 percent chance” that the bodies belong to her brother and his friend – who were discovered on Sunday.

A spokesperson for The Swedish Police Authority also told the outlet: “The two people who were found dead in a burnt-out car on Sunday afternoon have not yet been identified.

“The bodies are being examined by forensic medicine. The incident is currently being investigated as a murder. Several witnesses have been interviewed and the police are interested in further observations and tips.”

The pair from North London ran a travel agency together and were described as “nice, normal guys” by a family source speaking to the outlet.

There have been fears that the incident is related to the dark criminal underworld in Malmo as the city continues to suffer from gang violence.

This prompted the Foreign Office to issue travel advice for Sweden, warning: “Violent crime does occur. Gang-related crime, including knife crime, shootings and explosions, has been reported in Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

“Take particular care of your belongings in major cities as pickpockets often target tourists for passports and cash.”
