Princess Beatrice’s rarely seen daughter Sienna turns 3 – what we know about her

Born on September 18, 2021, to Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi has captured royal fans’ hearts with her royal lineage and aristocratic Italian roots.

As she turns three today, curiosity about her upbringing, future, and place within the Royal Family is growing.

Sienna comes from a mix of British and Italian nobility. On her mother’s side, she is the granddaughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, giving her close ties to Queen Elizabeth II, after whom she is partly named.

Her father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, brings his own slice of nobility to the family. As a descendant of the Italian Mapelli Mozzi family, Edoardo holds the title of Count, meaning that Sienna, too, has Italian nobility in her bloodline.

Like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s children – Archie and Lilibet, Sienna is being raised mostly out of the public eye.

Her parents, Beatrice and Edoardo, have made an effort to protect their daughter’s privacy, sharing only a few glimpses of her through the occasional photograph.

An example of this is when Edoardo took to Instagram on Sienna’s second birthday, and showed a never-before-seen picture of Sienna from behind sporting a floral dress and a sombrero.

At the time, the proud father captioned the post: “Happy Birthday Baby Girl. You bring us so much love and joy every day.”

Sienna was born just a little over a year after her parents got married in July 2020 in a scaled-down wedding to fit COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time.

In the birthing announcement, Buckingham Palace said Sienna had been born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

The statement said: “The baby weighs six pounds and two ounces. The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

“The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

Sienna’s older half-brother, Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf, from Edoardo’s previous relationship, is also a central figure in her life, creating a blended family dynamic.

Sarah Ferguson has previously labelled Princess Beatrice an “amazing stepmother” to Christopher and a friend of the princess told People Magazine in 2019 that she “has embraced the child as part of her life from the outset.”

The Princess had previously expressed the love of reading she shares with her stepson.

While announcing the winner of the 2023 Oscar’s Book Prize winner, she said: “The award holds a very special place in my heart.”

“My stepson, who is now seven, and I eagerly look forward to receiving the books and going through them together. Growing up in a world surrounded by books, we can take for granted that not everyone is so lucky.

“We need to remember in a world of screens and AI, it is moments of community, including between parents and children, that we need to keep alive.”
