Princess Kate has shared never before seen footage of her three children playing with their grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton this summer.
In a video released on Thursday by Kensington Palace to update the public on The Princess of Wales’ cancer journey, footage of the family-of-five gives an insight into their summer holiday fun.
As Kate confirms that she has finished her chemotherapy and is set to return to work gradually, she speaks about the power of love and her renewed appreciation of being loved and loving.
The princess said in the video: “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
In the new footage shared to the public, Kate’s parents are spotted playing card games enthusiastically with their grandchildren, who they have always shared a close bond with.
The family can be seen sat around a dining room table playing and laughing together, with the youngest Louis sat on his father’s lap beside his grandad.
Over recent months, the princess’s parents – who live just a short drive from the family’s home in Windsor – are said to have been a huge help with the children as Kate focused on her cancer recovery.
A source close to the Middletons told The Independent: “Carole has been the driving force keeping the family together with minimum fuss and maximum modesty.
“She’s ferried and fetched George, Louis and Charlotte, taken them to school sports matches and given them endless support. She’s been a real Mary Poppins-like figure.”
Both Kate’s parents have been very present in their grandchildren’s life and have taken to being involved in certain Royal events.
The pair were invited to the King’s Coronation last year and are believed to spend a lot of time with the family.
They also share a close bond with their son-in-law William, with the trio being seen together at Royal Ascot earlier this year as the prince attended alone without Kate.
The princess now intends to return to royal duties gradually with the support of her family.
