Britain is likely to be smashed by a heat bomb as the latest weather maps have turned volcanic red for the first week of August. Maps from WXCharts and Netweather.tv suggest that areas ranging from Newcastle to Cornwall will see temperatures soaring as high as 29C on August 2.
The bright weather maps come as the country has been undergoing interchangeable weather conditions.
Rain and cloudy conditions are expected across the UK today, with some areas experiencing potentially heavy showers. However, spells of warm sunshine are anticipated to develop later on.
Another weather system will move in from the west on Thursday, bringing wet conditions to most of the country. By Friday, this will give way to sunny spells and some showers.
However, according to the weather maps, the hot weather conditions will make a return to the UK for a longer period of time.
WXCharts weather maps show areas around Cornwall will see the highest temperatures of 29C.
Even the northern parts of the country will see mercury hovering above 20C.
Jim Dale, a weather expert with British Weather Services told Express.co.uk: “It’s still a long way off. But it is high pressure and we can see 29-30 in the south-east quarter and 25C in most places.
“It is going in the right direction. We need to see some consistency in the next few days and then we can definitely see those temperatures.
“The last week of July and the first week of August are generally the hottest time of the year. The summer so far has been punctuated by the wettest spell. The hot weather looks like it is going to last for more than one day.
“It kicks in before August 2 and may continue for a few more days. It can continue till mid-August; hopefully, we won’t lose the heat. All is not lost for the heat lovers.”
However, the Met Office‘s long-range forecast between July 26 and August 4 suggests of a mix period with warmer and thundry conditions.
It reads: “Early Friday a band of cloud and rain clears south-eastwards,with scattered showers following across much of the northwest, these clearing overnight.
“Likely becoming more settled into the following weekend though with some scattered showers and in the south the potential for warmer or thundery conditions for a time. Thereafter changeable weather patterns seem likely to resume early in August.
“Showers and occasional spells of rain are likely to affect all regions at times. However, some drier and brighter interludes are also expected, these most likely in southern and eastern regions. The most frequent spells of wet weather are most likely to be across northern and western areas. Temperatures mostly close to or slightly above average for a time, with any warmer spells generally short-lived.”
Today:
A cloudy start for many with outbreaks of rain moving eastwards. It will turn brighter with the rain turning more showery, although a risk of some heavier showers developing across northern areas. Feeling warmer than yesterday in the sunshine.
Tonight:
Early evening rain and showers in the north gradually clearing. Otherwise some clear spells, but cloud and rain moving in from the west across many southern areas throughout the night.
Tuesday:
Early rain in the south clearing, leaving a day of sunny spells and scattered showers. The odd heavier shower possible in the southeast later. Feeling warm, especially in the sunshine.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Sunshine and some showers on Wednesday, although rain moving into west later. Breezy with rain for most on Thursday. Showery on Friday in the north, but drier in the south.
