Angela Rayner has been busy letting Labour colleagues know that right-wing defector Elphicke won’t have a serious role in the party. Frontbencher Cat McKinnell had a tough time defending Starmer’s strategy yesterday on Sky. Meanwhile, allegations are circling regarding Elphicke’s potential lobbying of Robert Buckland. Now Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar has come out against Starmer’s move. He told Good Morning Scotland:

Looking at some of the comments that have been attributed to her or that she has said, I find them completely unacceptable and don’t agree with them. What I do agree with her on is that Rishi Sunak is a squatter… She certainly wouldn’t have been a Scottish Labour candidate, I can be really clear about that.

The morale of the soldiers is more important than the strength of the army…
