UK Army Bought Drones from Supplier Sanctioned For Aiding Putin

Another day, another blunder from the Labour government. According to Bloomberg, the UK’s armed forces and police have been caught red-handed using Chinese drones from a company sanctioned for helping Russia in its war against Ukraine. John Healey and Reeves were spotted playing around with the now-banned drones at an army base only three weeks ago…

Autel Robotics, a Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer, found itself slapped with sanctions by the UK government last week, having allegedly supplied UAVs to aid Putin’s brutal invasion. It turns out Ministry of Defence, along with Wiltshire and Nottinghamshire police have been using them “primarily” to train Ukrainian soldiers, though have now said they will cease to buy more. Shadow Armed Forces Minister, Mark Francois, tells Guido:

“You really couldn’t make this up. Just days before the 1,000 day anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we have two senior Cabinet Ministers apparently flying a drone from a company sanctioned for arming the Russians. Who on earth arranged that crazy stunt?”

Security concerns aside, it’s not the best look for a government keen to show its support for Ukraine…
