US election 2024: Trump closes in on victory with lead in all battleground states – LabourList

Donald Trump is inching closer to a return to the White House as he takes a lead in all seven key battleground states.

The former president has taken a lead of more than 100,000 votes in Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania – all states won by Joe Biden at the last presidential election in 2020.

Trump also has a narrow lead in Arizona and an early lead in Nevada. CNN has projected him the winner in North Carolina.

To secure victory, Harris will need to regain a lead in all three Midwestern battleground states.

In what was expected to be an election that would go down to the wire, the New York Times currently gives Donald Trump a 89% chance of victory. The newspaper also forecasts Trump will win the popular vote by just over one percentage point over Harris.

According to CNN, Trump leads with 230 electoral votes, with Harris on 182.

A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.
