
Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years for accessing indecent images of children as young as seven. He will also have to complete 25 sessions of a sex offender programme. Edwards sent hundreds of pounds to a convicted paedophile “apparently off the back of (him) sending pornographic images to Mr Edwards”, the court heard.Edwards will be placed on the sex offenders register for seven years – meaning he has to notify the police of his whereabouts.
Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring told Edwards: “You were perhaps the most recognised newsreader and journalist in the UK. It is not an exaggeration to say your reputation is in tatters.
