This notice of a 14-day strike is a response to the federal government’s failure to fulfill the 16-point agreement made on October 2, 2023. It stems from a meeting in Abuja where both the National Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, represented by their presidents, Comrade Joe Ajaero and Comrade Festus Odidi, jointly issued a statement. They emphasized that the lack of implementation has increased Nigeria’s hardships.
In reaction to this, many Nigerians appear disillusioned with these unions and are venting their frustrations on social media.

@Emmy Suo Allred expressed his grievances commenting, “Inconsistent Union! They are all after stomach infrastructure not for the interest of those they represent.”
Nigerians on Twitter also expressed their unbelief in the unions’ declaration of the 14-day strike ultimatum given to the federal government.
