This article contains spoilers for Monday January 3’s episode of Hollyoaks, available to stream on All4.
In an episode that I’d say was the definition of chaos, one of Hollyoaks’ biggest ever characters has been stabbed and left to die by vile Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti).
Yes, that’s right – our beloved Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) is fighting for life, and I’m not quite sure how I will cope if he dies.
So how did we get to this stage in the newly re-opened Hutch?
All was going so well as Tony and Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) celebrated the big event.
With the community gathered at the venue, little did they know what was transpiring elsewhere in the village.
The Bad Sisters gang – that’s Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin), Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), Peri (Ruby O’Donnell) and Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) – had lured Abe over to the house under the pretence that they were going to withdraw the allegations against him and destroy the evidence.
But when mistrusting Abe grabbed Cleo’s phone and discovered a message from Mercedes confirming that she had got the gun, he exploded with rage.
Rookie error, Mercy! How many times have I told you not to text about guns?
As a struggle ensued, Abe hit Leela to the ground and grabbed Cleo, telling her that he was going to end her.
But Mercedes arrived in time to brand him a rapist before opening fire.
Phew, down he goes!
It’s not as simple as that though as the bullet only grazed him. As he grabbed the gun himself, Joel (Rory Douglas Speed) entered the carnage and, after another kerfuffle, Abe fled to try and get help from his mum Marie (Rita Simons).
But she had realised just how horrific her son is and, despite it paining her massively, she refused to give him any assistance, instead wanting him to turn himself in.
He took her at knifepoint and tried to escape through the restaurant but Darren punched him and everything went to pot.
Tony rushed into the fray and even Abe looked horrified when the stalwart was stabbed and fell to the ground.
As Tony looked agonised and pained, Marie screamed and rushed to his side.
But is this truly the end of him?
Abe wasn’t sticking around to find out as he grabbed Marie again and dashed out to the car with her, causing Joel to follow in hot pursuit.
The chase ended in a crash – meaning there could be even more death in Hollyoaks village before the week is out…
Phew, I need a sit down!
