Joe & The Shitboys share new single ‘LEGALIZE EVERYTHING’.
Joey and the Shitboys return with a new single, which is a thrilling slice of gonzoid political punk with grinding guitar and agrro-vated vocals. They add humour and melody to their frantic rushes that make them compelling, and their takedown of homophobia, and the rampant killing of animals for the meat industry is perfect fodder for their assaults.
The band share their new single here.
Following on from recent single ‘MR. NOBODY’ – a groove-driven departure for the DIY punk four-piece, and the surprisingly sincere offering’ PLEASE SEEK HELP’, new single ‘LEGALIZE EVERYTHING’ sees the band share their thoughts on the war on drugs. Singer Joe explains…
“Our nation’s war on drugs victimizes addicts. If a person is already fucked, then how could it possibly help to give them a fine, or throw them in jail, and permanently exclude them from moving up to higher paying jobs, even after years of sobriety? It’s absurd that our government prevents people from “ruining their lives,” by punishing anyone that gets caught doing what they please to their own body. It’s an absurd thing that our society accepts laws that govern our own bodies. On top of that, most dealers, drug mules and the likes, are repeat offenders. ‘LEGALIZE EVERYTHING is about our human right to govern our bodies, and taking control of the drug market.”
“LEGALIZE EVERYTHING” receives its first spin by punk icon Iggy Pop on BBC 6 Music this Sunday, and comes in the midst of 6 raucous shows in the UK this month which finishes up at London’s Moth Club tonight. Tickets here.
The queer vegan shitpunks, Joe & The Shitboys, formed with the intention of calling out shitty behaviour in the conservative Faroe Islands, where the rock scene is filled with boneless homophobes and meat-eating misogynists – and continue to take their aim at general vibe killers everywhere.
The live shows are full of energy, with a barrage of songs often under a minute long, like “Save The Planet You Dumb Shit”, “Life Is Great You Suck” and “If You Believe in Eating Meat Start With Your Dog”, being broken up by the flamboyant frontman roasting the audience relentlessly.
The band (Joe, Ziggy Shit, Johnny Shit and Ollie Shit) have played every type of venue there is; roof tops, public toilets, opening ceremonies for North Atlantic sub sea tunnels, museums and skateparks, and have also appeared on their fair share of major festival line ups around Europe and North America, from Boardmasters to Roskilde and Lowlands, as well as their home country festival G!.
To date the band have released two albums, ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes’ and ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes Again’, both receiving critical acclaim despite their modest and unconventional (aka punk) 10 minute total run time. For those seeking further justification for hardcore vibes, Joe & The Shitboys promise more new music, more international live appearances and more polite advice on how to live your life in 2024.
