LIINES release Holding On, their first new single since 2021, ahead of an upcoming EP set for the autumn.
Holding On is a sublime return cementing LIINES as a true force to be reckoned with. It follows the celebrated 2018 debut album Stop-Start, and acclaim for previous singles Sorry, On and On and Keep On Going as well as a sublime cover of Joy Division’s Shadowplay.
The single showcases the band’s ability to create brooding sonic explosions, lyrically drawing on themes of hope and desperation, whilst building with an anthemic energy and frenetic sense of urgency. As the raw power of McVeigh’s distinctive vocals soars over throbbing beats and deep bass hooks, the track reveals a more emotionally vulnerable side to the band, whilst maintaining their trademark gritty post-punk sound.
The track was recorded by due Zoe McVeigh (vocal, guitar and bass) and Leila O’Sullivan (drums) and produced and mixed by Paul Tipler at Unit 13 Studios, London and mastered by Katie Tavini.
LIINES have been busy of late, from supporting House Of All in Manchester to bis in London via Focus Wales and Beareded Theory. Of the Manchester gig, LTW’s Wayne Carey said, “Zoe and Leila blast us into orbit with their repetitive pop-punk sound that still thrills today with no-nonsense tunes that make you want more and the set kicks us into touch with the blistering form they’ve always had.” High praise and something to look forward to…
