The big Oasis ticket sale this morning crashed systems as 14 million people applied for 1.4 million tickets for the 17 massive shows. Fans are in long queues trying to get the tickets.
The reformation of the band came after LTW boss John Robb’s now famous exclusive one off interview with Noel Gallagher filmed in June and shown last week
Despite the collapse of ticket sites and some tickets ending up on secondary ticket sites (where the tickets will be cancelled according to the band), the tickets are now all gone. Several people were kicked off Ticketmaster for being ‘bots’ and trying to get tickets for resale.
The ticket system was like an update on British culture, with people digitally queuing up and complaining about queuing!
It’s rumoured that there will be more added shows…the odds are that there will be more Wembley and Heaton Park gigs and records for these venues are there to be broken. There is also a world tour to be announced with the band potentially bugger in the USA than when they left off.
It’s a level of hysteria not felt in pop culture for decades and could be the biggest series of live shows ever in the UK despite grumpy naysayers and some negativity that always comes with huge events. The bigger you are, the more people will go online and knock you, just like Glastonbury Oasis are a national obsession with lovers and haters.
The band has still not announced who is actually in them or the support, and there is much speculation. We would like to see at least Fontaines DC, Sex Pistols, Richard Ashcroft, The Real People and new bands like Hungry in a mixture of old, new, borrowed and blue…
By reforming Oasis have cemented their place in the pantheon of super league with the Beatles and the Stones and the top five biggest UK bands of all time.
