French songstress Sophia Djebel Rose has announced her new album, Sécheresse, is to be released on February 17th as a co-release with WV Sorcerer Productions, Oracle, and Ramble Records. Accompanying the announcement is her first single and experimental video “L’Homme au Costume Doré” [The Man in the Golden Suit] that unfolds like a dissonant and modern surrealist tale.
She shared the following on L’Homme au Costume Doré:
As a daydream, depicting the funeral of the man in the golden suit, which echoes hallucinated scenes of night swimming and naked bodies glinting in the moonlight, this is a Memento Mori tale, where luxuriance is found at the ends of the world, in the abundance of rivers and the buzzing of insects, in the vertigo of this place where already we are nothing more than a memory.
