M-Sport Announces Launch of Brand-New Docu Series on YouTube
Aug 16, 2024
M-Sport Ford World Rally Team and WRC Promoter are set to launch the first episode of a new online series, titled ‘More than Machine’, a six-episode deep dive into the reality of running a team competing at the top-level of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Produced in partnership with SafetyCulture by Superlative Films, the docuseries follows the daily lives of drivers, engineers, technicians, and other team members behind-the-scenes on WRC events and at the team’s base in Cumbria, UK, as they fight to hold onto their prestigious position within the high-intensity world championship series.
The series comes in a pivotal season for M-Sport, as its line-up of young, emergent drivers battle amongst championship-winning crews on the world’s most challenging rally stages.
The first episode, set to be released on August 22nd, jumps right in at the 2024 WRC season’s third round in Kenya and documents Adrien Fourmaux’s second podium of his career, whilst Grégoire Munster aims to match his teammate’s pace. The following episodes will cover the fascinating dichotomy between the two youngsters’ careers, as they both face the inevitable adversity found in rally throughout the season.
Following not only the drivers, but also co-drivers, team managers, and people from across the M-Sport contingent, ‘More than Machine’ will bring never-before-told stories to life. With people at its core, the new series truly shows the highs, lows, joys, and sacrifices experienced by the people who make rallies happen.
SafetyCulture became the Official Workplace Operations partner for M-Sport Ford World Rally Team in 2021, developing a partnership through the use of SafetyCulture’s issue-capturing and inspection-reporting software. The partnership has focused heavily on teamwork and continual improvement with SafetyCulture, thus finding ‘More than Machine’s’ key themes in team dynamics, learning, and adventure.
The six-part docuseries will be hosted on WRC’s YouTube channel. The series trailer is available now on YouTube, and the first episode will be available from August 22nd.
Malcolm Wilson OBE, M-Sport Managing Director, said:
“I’m very proud to see the creation of this insightful series about what it takes to be a World Rally Team. Showcasing the hard work and tenacity of the team, as well as introducing some of the characters we have is a pleasure to watch.
“Up until now the WRC has not delved into the backstories of the people who make the operation work, so having the chance to show this to a global audience is something very special. I hope everyone enjoys watching our journeys in WRC as much as we have enjoyed working with the production team on it.”
Richard Millener, Team Principal of M-Sport Ford World Rally Team, said:
“We’re very lucky to have this opportunity to tell all the incredible stories behind our fantastic team. On rallies there’s so much that happens behind-the-scenes in the service park that the fans don’t get to see, and I believe this series will do a lot to bring people even closer to the sport.”
“We’re only really scratching the surface, but by telling these stories and getting to know the people who run the cars and make the rally happen, we’re opening ourselves up to an even bigger fan base. There are real, human stories to tell here, and I’m so pleased we’re now able to document them.”
Adrien Fourmaux, M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver, said:
“This series is something new in rally where people can see much more than what they normally see on TV. The documentary follows the crews closely, it gives an internal view of being a driver and running a team, which provides a fascinating insight into the world of rally.”
Grégoire Munster, M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver, said:
“It’s going be a unique story, exploring what it’s like to be part of a legendary motorsport team. It’s an immersive series where the viewers will experience who we are as a team and the pitfalls of rally.’’
